Steamed Broccoli with Lime DressingThis Steamed Broccoli with Lime Dressing recipe is especially great with asian cuisine, but still refreshing with any meal. If you don’t like sesame oil, try melted butter in its place. Make sure to serve hot!

This is just a simple way to make plain steamed broccoli taste amazing!  Vegetables are not always my kids favorite part of dinner but adding some fun flavors will help!

Funny…I almost made the Green Beans with Honey Cashew Sauce. Definitely excited to try some of those recipes you mentioned. I have to say, although Bart wasn't a fan, the rest of us thought it was good. Consequently some of Bart's most favorite recipes have come from you girls. Definitely going to give your other sides a try. 99% of everything you've posted is so so good! Thanks for sharing, and by the way, I noticed you've posted some grilling/meat recipes that I'm also anxious to try also. By the way, although I don't eat chocolate…my family thought your trifle was awesome at Logan's blessing. As far as my broccoli changing color…I probably shouldn't have mentioned that…now you know that I'm still trying to graduate from amateur status in cooking world:).

    Hi Bartmelis,

I'm sorry this recipe didn't turn out for you! It does have a very distinctive flavor with the sesame oil. That makes me laugh that your husband didn't like it. Mine wasn't a huge fan, either. I, on the other hand, totally loved it. It was the first thing I ate on my plate, and it was so good. I did notice that when I had seconds (and the broccoli was cooled off at that point)it wasn't as good. So I think this is one of those recipes that is best fresh and warm. I didn't have a problem with the broccoli changing color. I am not sure why that happened? If you didn't love it, I wouldn't serve it with company. There are too many other good recipes out there. Try the Green Beans with Honey Cashew Sauce, Zuchini Tomato Bake, or Baked Asparagus with Balsamic Butter Sauce. They would all be great company side dishes. 🙂 Sorry I am not more help!

I made this tonight as a side for my husband's b-day dinner. My kids loved it, and I thought it was pretty good. My husband didn't really care for it, and he loves broccoli. The flavor wasn't too bad, in fact, it grows on you after a few bites. The main problem was that I put the dressing on half of the broccoli I cooked, and that half turned a horrible paled out olive green color, as if I'd really over-cooked the broccoli. I don't know if the lime juice caused some sort of reaction? The broccoli without the dressing looked fresh and bright green and vibrant. Is this normal? Is this why you serve it immediately? We did wait a few minutes for our meat to come off the grill. I'm a little nervous about trying this one out on company. However, as you know…I think Sisters' Cafe is the best!

I was hoping you would know! I love the way Applebee’s does their broccoli.

Is this the same way that Applebee’s makes their broccoli?

Tribute to my sweet Mom

I developed my love of cooking at an early age “helping” my Mom bake cookies, make dinner, and knead bread. She had quite the well of patience! She is the one that taught me about measurements, leavening agents, egg-washes, the basic white sauce, and numerous other mysteries of the kitchen!  I cherish the memories I have of learning to cook at her side. Thank you Mom! You instilled in me a respect for work as well as a joy in creating delicious things. I love you! xoxo
