These sweet little treats are fun to make and everybody loves them! I bet a lot of you already have this recipe – they were a hit last year in the recipe blogging world and got passed around quite a bit! I got the recipe off of the Picky Palate who got it from someone else… they must be good right?! The only thing I changed was using a little more cream cheese – with only one package of cream cheese the filling is a little too dry for me. Have fun and enjoy! (You all reminded me to add that Mint Oreos are indeed fantastic tasting in this recipe! I bet they would be super cute with crushed peppermint stick on top too! Nutter Butters are good too -with milk chocolate coating and white chocolate drizzle. I have to say that Oreos are by far the best though!!)

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bag Oreo Cookies, ground up in blender or food processor
  • 1 1/2 8oz. packages of cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups white chocolate chips or 1 package Almond Bark (white chocolate candy coating)
  • 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips or 1 square of the Chocolate Bark for drizzling

Instructions

  1. Combine ground Oreos and cream cheese in mixer using paddle attachment until well mixed. Roll into 1 inch balls (makes about 30) and place onto baking sheet or tray. Refrigerate overnight or until very firm.
  2. Melt white chocolate in microwave for 1-2 minutes on 70% power. Using 2 little spoons, dip balls into chocolate and place onto parchment paper to harden. Once dry, melt dark chocolate and spoon into the corner of a ziplock baggie. Snip a small corner and drizzle back and forth over the truffles. Let dry.

    Hi!
    I have a question.
For the bag of oreos, how many are in there? Do you mean the bag of 6? Or the long sticks with like 13-15?

Instead of white chocolate I used the dark mint chocolate and drizzled it with some white. Turned out yummy. I did keep mine in the fridge. To me they tasted a lot better. This one husbande swore that I bought these somewhere. I told him nope I made them. He thought Sees lol!!! Great recipe!!! This was a HUGE hint and so easy to do!!!

I just made a batch of your chocolate covered nuts (the recipe that calls for white chips, semi sweet and milk chocolate chips). I made them using a large can of mixed nuts and they are totally delicious!! They turned out beautifully (although you suggested 3 cups of nuts, I actually used five cups). They are going to be such a hit in the stockings. I didn't freeform them on a cookie sheet, but I put them in christmas mini-cupcake papers. They are so cute!! Hubby gives 2 thumbs up. Thanks for the recipe.

Julie, I store them in my garage where it's cold- I bet the fridge is better than room temp though because of the cream cheese. (although they are yummy served room temp)If you have a cool place to store them it's probably better than the fridge though because my chocolate tends to turn white when i get it too cold. Hope that helps! Brittany

So I added to the recipe that mint oreos are super good too – i had forgotten that twist of the recipe!
Also, I have accidently made these with double stuffed oreos once… and although they did stick together better (this was before I added the extra cream cheese), I didn't like them as well. Honestly it may be that I hate the filling anyway though! I just like the taste of cream cheese a million times better! But I know a lot of people love oreo filling so if you're one of these, go for it!!

Try using double stuffed oreos, then you might not need 1 1/2 pkgs of cream cheese.

Tribute to my sweet Mom

I developed my love of cooking at an early age “helping” my Mom bake cookies, make dinner, and knead bread. She had quite the well of patience! She is the one that taught me about measurements, leavening agents, egg-washes, the basic white sauce, and numerous other mysteries of the kitchen!  I cherish the memories I have of learning to cook at her side. Thank you Mom! You instilled in me a respect for work as well as a joy in creating delicious things. I love you! xoxo
