Hello friends!  This is one of those Tuesdays that feels like a Monday  to me, since my kids were out of school yesterday for MLK day!  Are you ready for a new week?  I am trying to get myself organized with some meal planning.  I am adding the BEST Slow Cooker French Dip sandwiches recipe to my plan this week.  Are you using these cute weekly meal planners with grocery list or are you trying out the Plan to Eat program (link is on my right side bar)?  Both are great options to help you get your weekly meals organized!  I highly recommend these sandwiches!  They are SO good and super easy to make using your crockpot.  I love to fix it after breakfast, get on with my day and then come home to a warm and delicious meal!  So awesome after a long and exhausting day, when the last thing you want to do is come up with a dinner.  This recipe is literally bursting with flavor and my whole family loves it!  To make it a gluten free meal, be sure to use Gluten Free Soy Sauce and  serve on gluten free rolls or over potatoes or rice.  Delicious!!

  • 1/4 cup dry minced onions
  • 1 tablespoon beef bouillon

    Hi Caitlin,
I am with you on wanting to stay away from sugary processed things like Coke–I actually don’t buy that ever for my boys to drink. I have to remember to pick a can up just for this recipe and I don’t make it very often. You can not taste the actual Coke flavor (at least I can’t) in the recipe but I think it adds a depth of flavor and does marinates the meat–and tenderizes it too, I think. It seems to work like magic—so I am not sure if there is a good substitute. I honestly dont know….I, so sorry! You could just leave it out and put in some broth/ sugar or honey/soy sauce or vinegar…that would be additional liquid, sweetener and some type of tenderizer. Good luck my friend! I admire you desire to make it more healthy!!

So Melanie, I have to ask, is there something else I can use in place of the can of coke? I’m sure I won’t taste the flavor, which I already don’t like, but my family is trying to stay off the more processed sugars and soda and stuff. I’m so excited to try this recipe, because French Dip sandwiches are my favorite! I just want to avoid the coke

Tribute to my sweet Mom

I developed my love of cooking at an early age “helping” my Mom bake cookies, make dinner, and knead bread. She had quite the well of patience! She is the one that taught me about measurements, leavening agents, egg-washes, the basic white sauce, and numerous other mysteries of the kitchen!  I cherish the memories I have of learning to cook at her side. Thank you Mom! You instilled in me a respect for work as well as a joy in creating delicious things. I love you! xoxo
