Honey Mustard Dressing I try to have a salad everyday at some point, but if I don’t have a good dressing on hand then it is REALLY hard to keep that goal!  I am not a fan of most store bought dressings, simply because they are full of lots of ingredients that I can not identify and I am convinced are not good for me.  If you are like me, you might be a little intimidated with making homemade salad dressings (I was!), but once you start, you will find they are SO easy and the variations are endless. I almost never buy salad dressing at the store anymore. I sincerely like my homemade ones better and I know they healthier and they come together is minutes!

This honey mustard dressing is a new addition to my salad dressing collection and is quickly becoming one of my favorites!  It brightens up any salad and is full of delicious flavors and is so easy to prepare at home!  With just a few basic ingredients, you can create a homemade salad dressing that tastes much better than anything you get from the store.  Also try using it as a fun dipping sauce for grilled chicken or chicken tenders. Your family will love it!

Other favorite homemade dressings:

Buttermilk Ranch (it is the BEST–this recipe is taped to the inside of our kitchen cupboard)

Zesty Lemon Dressing (this link goes to my favorite salad)

Garlic Caesar salad Dressing (Mayo free–and is fantastic!)

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/4 cup Dijon mustard (plus a tablespoon of course ground mustard if desired)
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/4 cup +an optional additional 2 Tablespoons Olive Oil ( avocado oil or vegetable oil may be substituted)

Instructions

  1. Place ingredients in a jar and shake well until you can’t see any honey on the bottom of the jar.
  2. You can adjust the flavors to your liking–sweet (honey), sour (vinegar) and salt to taste.
  3. Keep for 3 weeks in the fridge in an airtight jar.

Recipe Notes:

  1. I sometimes like to add a tablespoon of course ground mustard–I like the extra flavor and the look
  2. Measure your oil into the jar first and then the honey–that way the honey slides right out!
  3. Add an additional 1-2 Tablespoons of oil, if you want the dressing a little more mild

Tribute to my sweet Mom

I developed my love of cooking at an early age “helping” my Mom bake cookies, make dinner, and knead bread. She had quite the well of patience! She is the one that taught me about measurements, leavening agents, egg-washes, the basic white sauce, and numerous other mysteries of the kitchen!  I cherish the memories I have of learning to cook at her side. Thank you Mom! You instilled in me a respect for work as well as a joy in creating delicious things. I love you! xoxo
