While I was in Seattle last fall visiting my sister Brittany, she introduced me to this DELICIOUS and healthy chocolate peanut butter banana smoothie and I have been making it ever since.   It is the perfect treat without the guilt.  No fattening ice cream is used, but you can’t tell!  I normally use 1% milk, all natural peanut butter and agave to sweeten.  Seriously fabulous!  It tastes like you are indulging in a thick ice cream parlor shake, but with far less calories.  Try this the next time you need a mid afternoon pick me up, or swap this for your milkshake splurge.  YUM!

I believe this recipe came from the Blendtec recipe book that came with our blender.  I LOVE our Blendtec Blender and recommend it wholeheartedly:)  It is such a powerful blender, that I can easily and quickly make a Green Smoothie or Frog Nog almost every day for my family (such a great way to sneak in some greens:).

So, I am trying to stick to my New Years resolution to be more healthy.  So far so good.  I have been doing this 30 minute workout which I love.  I would love to get some more ideas for quick but effective workouts.  If you have any suggestions, let me know!  Have a great week!

What about trying a little Nutella with this recipe? Has anyone done so? And if so, how was it

    This was so good!
I had to half the recipe as I would not have been able to finish the regular recipe.
    Thanks for the recipe. (:

My 2-year-old son and I loved this! I added a teaspoon of pure vanilla and even though raw honey would have added a ton of nutritional value, it was sweet enough for me with just the bananas. 🙂 Thank you so much for a great smoothie recipe!

Came back to leave a review – this was so good that I had to!

Okay, here were my modifications…look, this is definitely sweet enough without the added honey (which is not healthy), so I left that out. Also, if you slice and freeze the bananas before, it will taste thicker and more “shake-like.” I wanted to reduce calories, so I tried it with just two tablespoons of peanut butter, and it was perfect. Thanks for the great recipe!

LOVE this shake and eat it most days! 🙂 You better note that it’s ripe bananas you use – green ones are not good in this at all. I’m actually doing a health challenge now and these smoothies are helping me get in my fruits and veggies (the spinach ones)!

I eat a version of this shake every morning for breakfast. I have been doing it for almost a year now, and I seriously still look forward to it every morning. So good.

Yum, my husband would love this! I made something similar to it for him when he had gum surgery and couldn’t eat regular food for a week. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it on a regular basis (although it was good), but we added cooked oatmeal to beef up the calories for him. If you blend it well you can’t tell and it’s still yummy!

Tribute to my sweet Mom

I developed my love of cooking at an early age “helping” my Mom bake cookies, make dinner, and knead bread. She had quite the well of patience! She is the one that taught me about measurements, leavening agents, egg-washes, the basic white sauce, and numerous other mysteries of the kitchen!  I cherish the memories I have of learning to cook at her side. Thank you Mom! You instilled in me a respect for work as well as a joy in creating delicious things. I love you! xoxo
