Description

This lemon bread recipe is a wonderful way to add a burst of sunshine to your day. With its tangy lemon zest and sweet glaze, it’s sure to become a family favorite.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 3/4 cup butter (softened to room temperature)
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • zest of 2 lemons
  • Glaze
  • 4 TB freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350.
  2. In a bowl combine the sugar, eggs, butter, milk and lemon zest.
  3. Add the dry ingredients and mix well.
  4. I like to squeeze a little lemon juice into the batter, maybe a tablespoon or two.
  5. Bake in 2 8×4 inch greased and floured pans at 40-50 minutes.
  6. Glaze: Mix freshly squeezed lemon juice with powdered sugar.
  7. When you take the bread out of the oven let the glaze drip and drizzle over the loaves.
  8. If you want you can poke holes in the top first.
