Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups steel cut oats
  • 5 cups water or almond milk

Instructions

  1. Combine the steel cut oats and water (or almond milk if using)in the bowl of your Instant Pot and give them a stir.
  2. Cover with the lid and make sure you turn the vent at the top to “sealing.”
  3. Press the manual button and then set the time to 4 minutes on high pressure.
  4. The cooker will automatically start within a minute.
  5. It will take the Instant Pot a few minutes to build up pressure and then it will cook for 4 minutes. When it beeps, allow the pressure to naturally release for about 20 minutes. (The timer on the Instant Pot will remain on after the cooking cycle to let you know how long it’s been kept warm, unless you press the off button)
  6. Once the 20 minutes have passed, turn the vent to the “venting” position to release any remaining pressure. Carefully remove the lid and stir the oats to incorporate any liquid that has risen to the top. After stirring, the oats should have a nice and thick texture..
  7. Serve warm with your favorite toppings~brown sugar, maple syrup, cinnamon, a splash of vanilla, toasted nuts, coconut, fresh fruit etc.
  8. Leftover oats can be stored in individual containers in the fridge for a fast breakfast on the go. I have also frozen the oats in my silicon muffin pan–then once frozen I pop them out in to a zip loc bag. Reheat in microwave!
