Description

This Monte Cristo Croissant Sandwich is my simplified, at-home version that feels a little fancy but is actually incredibly easy to make.

Ingredients

  • 4 butter croissants

  • 4 ounces whipped cream cheese

  • 8 slices Swiss cheese

  • 3/4 pound Black Forest ham

  • 1/4 cup raspberry jam

  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Prep the croissants
Slice each croissant in half horizontally, like you would for a sandwich.

  2. Spread the cream cheese
Spread a generous layer of whipped cream cheese on the bottom half of each croissant.

  3. Layer the fillings
    Add:

    • 1 slice Swiss cheese

    • A few slices of ham

    • Another slice of Swiss cheese

  4. Add the jam
Spread a little raspberry jam on the inside of the top half of the croissant, then place it on top to close the sandwich.

  5. Toast until melty
Place the sandwiches on a baking sheet and bake at 375°F for about 10–12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and everything is warm and gooey.
(You can also do this in an air fryer or skillet if you prefer.)

  6. Finish with powdered sugar
Right before serving, dust the tops with powdered sugar for that classic Monte Cristo touch.
