Almond Joy Protein Poppers

Oh boy, these little Almond joy protein poppers are SO good!  They are fun spin on a classic candy bar.  You get the same great flavors in a healthy, wholesome little popper.  I have been trying to buy less processed foods and offering my boys fun alternatives like these.  I now have several different kinds of protien poppers in the freezer, ready to go into lunches, or grab for an after school

Taco Seasoning Mix

Taco Seasoning Mix

We love Mexican food at our house, and my boys favorite is ground beef tacos or burrito bowls!  I have always purchased taco seasoning in a little jug from Costco and never considered making it myself until I ran out last week!  I already had the meat browned and reached up in the cupboard for the taco seasoning and it was EMPTY!  Then I remembered that I had used a whole bunch for walking tacos

November 28, 2017 by Mel and Boys Kitchen + 2 Comments

Hey Everyone!  How was your Thanksgiving?  Even though we did not get to spend it with family this year, we got together with some dear friends and had a wonderful time!  This year I helped my 15 year old son make a gluten free pie crust (using almond flour) and this Banoffe Pie (Caramel Banana Pie--and please excuse the lame pictures--I need to redo them soon!).  It was a HUGE hit, even with all

Tribute to my sweet Mom

I developed my love of cooking at an early age “helping” my Mom bake cookies, make dinner, and knead bread. She had quite the well of patience! She is the one that taught me about measurements, leavening agents, egg-washes, the basic white sauce, and numerous other mysteries of the kitchen!  I cherish the memories I have of learning to cook at her side. Thank you Mom! You instilled in me a respect for work as well as a joy in creating delicious things. I love you! xoxo
