Pumpkin Pie Squares

November 16, 2010 by Mel and Boys Kitchen + 32 Comments

Just to be cruel and mean I am posting yet another delicious temptation...Pumpkin Pie Squares. This twist on pumpkin pie is perfect for this time of year. And it is even more perfect served with real whipped cream. Like most pumpkin desserts, this tastes best when chilled. I sent a platter of these pumpkin squares with my husband to a meeting he had to attend. The empty dish he brought home with

Peach Praline Muffins

October 7, 2010 by Mel and Boys Kitchen + 16 Comments

These Peach Praline Muffins are soooo good!  Sun ripened peaches, pecans with a hint of brown sugar and vanilla... totally fantastic!  Especially hot out of the oven or popped into the microwave for 10 seconds before enjoying them.  (PS Peaches are surprisingly good baked into muffins.  The consistency stays similar to fresh, not mushy.  I haven't tried it with frozen peaches, but I am definitely

I love that they are sweetened naturally with agave and honey and that they use coconut oil which has so many health benefits. And best of all these are really tasty--I promise:) Enjoy!

Applesauce Pancakes with Cinnamon Syrup

August 4, 2010 by Mel and Boys Kitchen + 46 Comments

Occasionally on Sunday mornings or when my dad was in charge of the meal, he'd make these fabulous Applesauce Pancakes.  As we'd start in on our short stacks, my dad could be heard from the griddle saying, "I don't hear any Ooos and Ahhhs!"  And so we would immediately start "oooing" and "ahhhing" in our most dramatic voices.  But do you know what?  These really were worthy of our dramatic,

Ultimate Cheese Fondue

July 9, 2010 by Mel and Boys Kitchen + 9 Comments

This  recipe comes from my sister Brittany--she says "This is a deliciously creamy, warm cheese fondue that honestly has the best taste - just a mellow hint of garlic and spice. It is truly wonderful! My in-laws have a tradition of fondue on New Year's Eve and this one is a favorite. Fondue parties are such a blast. If you haven't done one before, try it out and use this recipe for one of

Tribute to my sweet Mom

I developed my love of cooking at an early age “helping” my Mom bake cookies, make dinner, and knead bread. She had quite the well of patience! She is the one that taught me about measurements, leavening agents, egg-washes, the basic white sauce, and numerous other mysteries of the kitchen!  I cherish the memories I have of learning to cook at her side. Thank you Mom! You instilled in me a respect for work as well as a joy in creating delicious things. I love you! xoxo
