Shrimp Bowl with Spicy Mayo Drizzle

June 6, 2023 by Mel and Boys Kitchen + 1 Comment

This shrimp bowl with spicy mayo drizzle is my new favorite lunch or quick dinner. It is healthy, packed with flavor and easy to pull together fast. It is especially easy when I have most of the ingredients on hand. I like to keep shrimp in the freezer and boxes of Trader Joe's frozen rice. And Pickled onions have become a staple in my house! Have you tried them? I have linked the super easy

Do you have sourdough starter to use? If you don't, you should definitely get yourself some! If you are local, let me know and I will be more than happy to give you some of mine! I LOVE having a sourdough starter, not only for crusty artisan loaves (my favorite recipe/technique coming soon--I have been saving lots of pictures of my loaves to share with you!) but also because adding sourdough to

Sourdough Waffles

January 25, 2023 by Mel and Boys Kitchen + Leave a Comment

Sourdough Waffles Two Ways I LOVE sourdough waffles and so does my family. And, in case you are wondering if they taste sour, they do not. My boys were initially worried about that when I first started making them. They are PERFECTION--wonderfully golden and crispy on the outside but tender and moist on the inside. We crave them, especially on Sundays. These waffles have become a family

Tribute to my sweet Mom

I developed my love of cooking at an early age “helping” my Mom bake cookies, make dinner, and knead bread. She had quite the well of patience! She is the one that taught me about measurements, leavening agents, egg-washes, the basic white sauce, and numerous other mysteries of the kitchen!  I cherish the memories I have of learning to cook at her side. Thank you Mom! You instilled in me a respect for work as well as a joy in creating delicious things. I love you! xoxo
