I am looking forward to this weekend. It is General Conference for our church--The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and a great excuse to make lots of yummy food for my family! There are two sessions aired on Saturday and two sessions on Sunday where we get to hear from each of the Twelve Apostles, our Prophet, Thomas S. Monson and other church leaders. It is always a wonderful weekend
30 Minute Dinner Rolls
Is it possible to have homemade rolls on the table in 30 minutes start to finish? I read about this recipe on Real Mom Kitchen blog and just had to give it a try! We had them for sunday dinner yesterday and true to their name they were on the table in 30 minutes. OK, actually they took a little more than 30 minutes for me--more like 45 minutes total---but still pretty fast!! My boys LOVED them.
Sweet Strawberry Bread
Guess what everybody?? After 10 looooong days in a hotel with my 5 boys we are finally moving in to our home in Tennessee! Yeah! I am up to my eyeballs in boxes, but I can't wait to get back to cooking and baking soon! This was a bread I made before I boxed up my kitchen in Utah....Even though strawberry season is coming to an end...it is not too late to make this unique and delicious sweet
Flaky Buttermilk Biscuits
I love biscuits. I'm not from the South but I still just love biscuits...is that allowed! :) Mom used to whip them up now and then to go with dinner and I would slather them with butter and jam... aahh, yum! This time I wanted to try a new recipe with buttermilk - hoping to find one that was flaky and buttery and delicious. Well I'll tell ya, this one I found on All Recipes is THE winner. It is
Aunt Alice’s Peach Pie (& Moving)
Aunt Alice's Peach Pie is the BEST peach pie I have ever had. My husbands Aunt Alice made it for us a few years ago and after the first bite, I was SMITTEN. Maybe it is the almond flavoring and the butter that sets this pie apart. Mmmmm I don't know what it is that makes it so mouthwatering delicious....but I look forward to peach season all year just for this sweet pie! I thought sharing
Grandma’s Rolls
These rolls are from my maternal grandmother, Ruth Rice, who happens to be a fantastic cook! Grandma has always baked her own breads, canned and bottled her own fruits, veggies, jams, pickles, etc (grown in her enormous garden), made all kinds of wondrous candy and even raised her own chickens! She takes the concept of work ethic to a whole new level - and I have only touched on her food related
Ina Garten’s Stewed Lentils and Tomatoes
I'm finally settled in my new home and back online! Yahoo!! :) Even through the chaos of moving, I have not wasted time in the kitchen... here is a recipe I tried out, it is Ina Garten's Stewed Lentils and Tomatoes from Barefoot Contessa's recipe book 'At Home'. I love that it is healthy and delicious. It has a wonderful curry spice to it that is scrumptious too!
Snickerdoodle Muffins
Last week my little boys and I were in the mood for muffins and so I came up with these little Snickerdoodle Muffins --a fun twist on some of our favorite cookies. My little sweeties loved them. They really hit the spot. My boys especially loved the butter dipped cinnamon sugar tops. I made them into mini muffins and we snacked on them all day. You could of course make them in to regular sized
