Barbeque Chicken Pizza

March 1, 2008 by Mel and Boys Kitchen + 7 Comments

This barbeque chicken pizza is a favorite around our house. My husband says it is better than California Pizza Kitchen's barbecue chicken pizza! You'll have to decide for yourself! The secret is to use Famous Dave's BBQ sauce (or your absolute favorite). When I make it I don't measure anything, just lay it all on until it looks right so these measurements are approximate... use as much cheese,

Citrus Water Punch

February 29, 2008 by Mel and Boys Kitchen + 8 Comments

Last night I taught a cooking class with my sister Brittany on Easy Entertaining! It was fun! We were gong to snap a couple of pictures--but we were a little busy and forgot! This picture of the Citrus Water Punch was at the end--thus it is almost gone! You will have to imagine it full and all the slices of citrus floating with crushed ice. It is a very beautiful drink to serve at a party--but the

Quick and Easy Breadsticks

February 14, 2008 by Mel and Boys Kitchen + 12 Comments

My boys LOVE these easy breadsticks and they really are fantastic. I have been using this recipe for years and it comes to gather quick!  I am not sure who I got it from, but I have shared it with lots of people. They are really quick and easy breadsticks to make. You only have to start them about 1 hour before dinner and you will end up with delicious, warm breadsticks to go with your

Sugar Gems

February 12, 2008 by Mel and Boys Kitchen + 4 Comments

These are very tastey, and pretty little sugar cookies. I like that you don't roll the dough and use cookie cutters--these are just quick and easy. The recipe is a bit unusual. I got this recipe from my friend Starlie...she is a gem! I always think of her when I make them.   I love to make these cookies for any holiday--just dye the frosting and use sprinkles to coordinate with the celebration.

Black and White Bean Dip

February 10, 2008 by Mel and Boys Kitchen + 11 Comments

Back and White Bean Dip

This Black and White Bean Dip is a very easy and tasty dip for tortilla chips. It makes a great party appetizer, game night snack, or like today...a quick and yummy lunch after church.  With two kinds of beans it is hearty and filling and the salsa verde gives it a fun zippy flavor! The original Black and White Bean Dip recipe does not call for the chopped avocado on top--but I had a ripe one just

Tribute to my sweet Mom

I developed my love of cooking at an early age “helping” my Mom bake cookies, make dinner, and knead bread. She had quite the well of patience! She is the one that taught me about measurements, leavening agents, egg-washes, the basic white sauce, and numerous other mysteries of the kitchen!  I cherish the memories I have of learning to cook at her side. Thank you Mom! You instilled in me a respect for work as well as a joy in creating delicious things. I love you! xoxo
